These are just a few of the visitors I've had coming to my garden over the years. I love wildlife and because of the diversity of my planting and the fact that I have wildflowers as well as cultivated plants and plenty of places for them to feel safe they just keep on coming. Yellowhammer. Wren. Large red Damselflies. and of course my Great Spotted Woodpecker. (I think he's going to stick around. :-D ) Grey Wagtail. Stoat. Robin. (Ian was feeding him mealworms.) Great tit. Greenfinch. Baby bluetit. Blackbird. Chaffinch. Long tailed tits (not the best piccie and a bit big but they're hard to snap.) Hope you enjoyed meeting some of my little friends.
What a friendly bunch of fellows. Heck I'd even hang around your garden if I lived near Would you have some room for an unwashed and slightly dazed gnome? All are nice except for that stoat *shiver*
Birds in the garden What a lovely bunch of birds to see. I love your robin. The kind we have here looks like a grouchy turtle. I'll have to look up the stoat-looks like a marten or weasel. Was it detrimental to your birds? We had weasels one year and they were great. Every time you saw them they had a mouse or vole in their mouth. They got too much "US" and left as soon as their babies could leg it. I showed my husband Rick you great spotted and he wanted to know how long you have been at present location. We keep our "binos" hanging by the backdoor for instant birdwatching. Nice to see some unfamiliar birds.
The stoat keeps down the number of fieldmice in the garden Bethie which is great otherwise we'd be overrun with them. Tell Rick that we've been in this cottage for more than twenty years but it's only this year that we've seen the woodpecker. We seem to get at least one new species every year. Last year it was the grey wagtail. The year before bullfinches. I wonder what next year will bring? :-D
Great pics, I think the stoat is cute, but then again I would. It is wonderful of you to share your yard.
