My daughter in her 6 years of worldly knowledge brought home this plant and told me to grow it. I don't know what it is but I think it is a wild herb. It has a piney smell from the long thin brownish almost felt covered leaves. The smaller leaves don't have a lot of smell but is about the same. The tiny white flowers are in bunches of 3-5. Can anyone identify this plant for me? Also, can anyone tell me how easy or difficult it is to grow wild herbs in a container or garden?
I'm not familiar with what it is. But you might want to keep it in a pot until you do find out what it is because not everything growing in the wild should be planted in your garden. Many wild plants are very invasive and can ruin your garden in a couple of years.
I have searched for hours and can't find it. Will definately stay in a flower pot but it won't matter much because it is growing everywhere across the street so it will wind up in my garden plot sooner or later. I need to find my book on PNW plants and maybe I will find it then.
It looks like pennycress to me. Pennycress is common here in North Carolina, it is a member of the brassica family. I pull it out of my flower beds in the spring, the seed pods will scatter the seeds everywhere.
I agree it looks like hairy bittercress. I have been pulling it out for the last two weeks. Here is the link: http://www.aragriculture.org/horticultu ... _hairy.htm
Well that plant is not going in my flower pots! Have enough of it wild, don;t need to help it out, does fine on it's own.

Get rid of it! Burn it! Now! I have nasty experience with this weed. Hairy bittercress is an invasive, non-native, and generally nasty weed. I don't recommend having it around. In time, it may choke the plants you are trying to grow. The weed is extremely successful in the way it disperses its seeds. It's one of the worst weeds out there. Right up there with thistle and garlic mustard.
