The field behind my house, which used to be part of the homeplace farm, as did my place, was put into a conservation program through the state of Ohio 3 years ago. It is a wetlands program. The owner gets paid for not farming it, and there are certain things he has to do to it. The state provided him with seed to plant it with wetlands grasses etc. The field behind it is also in the program. it has 5 small shallow ponds that are about 1 foot deep. These are home to several kinds of wild ducks. Well about 2 weeks ago, the field behind me started to show color. Today while taking a break from mowing the yard, I walked back there to see what was in bloom. To my surprise almost the whole field is in bloom with wild Brown Eyed Susans! Here are a few pics.

Really lovely CK. I've made part of my back garden over to UK wildflowers as they are so attractive.

Black-eyed susan (as we call them) are one of my favorite wild flowers. That is the State flower for Maryland so I am a little sentimental.

Your pics are wonderful. Pic #2 made me gasp with delight. It almost brought a tear to my eye, it was such a great surprise!

    Really love these photos.
