I will really be surprised if our schools are open on Monday and Tuesday of this week. There is a wind chill advisory of -10 to -15 below 0. not a safe place to be if you are a walker and not a bus rider.
Our schools have been called off or delayed openings for weeks. It is much safer for the kids. Sometimes they don't find out till that morning.
Friday we got a call at 4:30 am to cancel school, I can't imagine they are not aware of the windchill advisory already. Our district hardly ever calls a calamity day for anything. this winter has been the exception.
No School or University for today. glad to keep her off the roads in this weather. U of Akron actually canceled classes for today and tomorrow.
We'll be getting that cold blast overnight here. Nothing like those minus temps y'all are getting, but with temps dipping into the teens AND freezing rain/sleet plus a chance of 1-5 inches of snow... this whole part of the state will be shut down tomorrow. My boss already said she's closing the office all day Tuesday and probably Wednesday morning.
Donna... I think Dallas will be clear by Wednesday evening. That's one thing about Texas' "bad" winter weather... it usually just last a day.
Donna, Dallas is about 240 miles north of where the bad weather is and we have nothing in our forecast except sunny skies and some wind. DFW airport will not be affected by any of what's hitting south Texas.
My son is flying to Houston in the morning, I suspect it will be a bumpy ride between here and there.
They cancelled all kinds of flights last week and this system is supposed to be worse. Due to hit Houston early morning and possibly last through Wednesday morning. So have him check with the airlines.
I did forget to mention all the connecting flights that will be affected, so yeah calling the airport before leaving home would be the way to go.
our wind chill was -45* most schools closed. And where they had more snow some highways closed last night. pulled plows off the road. Lot better today. High Tuesday 5*
