Saturday night into Sunday morning we can have windchills to -40 degrees ...they said it takes only 10 minutes for frostbite...I bet I could get it before that.....they said -9 degrees will be the temperature on Saturday night..

I don't really like going out with the temperatures that cold but we have a holiday party from where my husband works... I would really love to sit home and cozy up in front of the fire but when you make a commitment , I don't think it is nice if you don't show up....I have a feeling that some will stay home for that reason...but I really can't blame them..Would You???

Yeah, we're bracing ourselves here to. Time to haul more wood up closer to the house, and have a hot toddie (or two!). I wish we would have gotten some of the snow they did in the southern part of the state.

Staying home because of the cold? I wouldn't do that unless the cars were frozen. As long as somebody goes to the trouble of making a party and inviting me, I'd attend if I were able to, even if it's at work.

I'm a bit of a wimp when it's that cold out Sherry. I'd probably stay by the fire...

Parties are fun, if you enjoy parties, and who doesn't, you should go. We are going to a dinner party on Monday evening. (after the cold wave), every one is retired here, hence a Monday evening party. Tonight and Sunday night are going to be the cold ones, they are saying -18 F (-28 C) and winds of over 20 miles per hour. That's a wind chill near -48 F (-44 C), and a high on Sunday of about 0 F. I guess that you just get used to the cold, as it doesn't stop the usual activities, just causes you to bundle up a little more. Go to your party Sherry, and have fun.

    Sherry8 :
I would be torn about what to do . . . but I would dress extra warmly, and go and have a good time. Is it a Valentine's party? I love parties.

Here's the winter weather warning that's out for us now...to read this, you'd never want live in Wisconsin! Lots of hype, but I think everyone who lives in northern areas (all around the globe) just adjusts to it. The worst I ever remember were wind chills of -60 F...that WAS cold. But -45, shouldn't be too bad, as long as you've got someone to keep you warm!

WIND CHILL READINGS WILL FALL TO 35 BELOW TO 45 BELOW ZERO OVER MUCH OF NORTHEAST WISCONSIN TONIGHT AND SUNDAY MORNING. WIND CHILLS THIS LOW CAN CAUSE FROSTBITE ON EXPOSED SKIN IN LESS THAN 10 MINUTES.

IN ADDITION TO THE BITTER COLD...SNOW SHOWERS WILL ACCOMPANY THE FRONT. THE STRONG WINDS MAY CAUSE CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF THE SNOW... WHICH COULD MAKE TRAVEL HAZARDOUS IN SOME AREAS.

A WIND CHILL WARNING MEANS THE COMBINATION OF VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS WILL CREATE DANGEROUSLY LOW WIND CHILL VALUES. THIS WILL RESULT IN FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA OR DEATH IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW...AND BLOWING SNOW WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.

frostbite - me - no way - I will stay home and be warm and cosy rather. I am a wimp when it comes to cold. If our winter temperature hits between 3 and 5 degrees Celsius you will never find me outside.
    BRRRR.

Wow, that is cold. I'm pretty sure I'd stay home by the fire!

I can't believe the cold some regions have...

15F actual predicted low for tonight, up to 50mph winds. It sounds like the roof is going to come off!

It was so cold Saturday night but I think the winds picked up on Sunday and it was even worse. We had a good time at the party...in fact we did not get home until midnight. That is very unusual for us...usually we are tucked in by 10 pm. Right now on Monday it is ten below with a windchill of -29...I hope it warms up soon..I want spring so bad and I always wonder why I am here in this cold area....
