From our property we can see a railroad, and of course the engines and freight cars. Today we saw several flatbeds carrying the huge wind generator arms. In west Texas we have seen the tall poles with the arms slowly revolving in the wind, making a low "whoosh" sound, on the mesas where the wind is steady.
Do you think there is a place for wind-generated electricity in the power grid? I know there are questions about migratory birds, and "visual pollution", but the wind towers we have seen are soothing in a way, and there don't seem to be any definitive studies about the towers effect on migratory birds.
What are your thoughts on this?

I think wind power is a great idea! It is a free, non-polluting source of energy. Having said that, I'm still not too sure I would want a wind farm in my backyard.

Several years ago, we were in southwestern Pennsylvania, where PA. and W.V. and Ohio all come together. There were wind turbines on the tops of the hills. Maybe 10 or 15 in the area where we were. We thought that they were rather pretty as they lazily went around. One of the car dealerships in Columbus has a wind turbin erected on their property. He said that it provides all their energy and that they can sell the power back to the electric company. He said that they have seen so much savings, that he has paid for the unit, and essentially his power is free and is making money from it. He is already looking to put them up at his other dealerships. And central Ohio is not a partucularly windy area.

I know all that there is to know when it comes to clean alternative power generation - So feel free to ask me any and all questions! :)

However as for migratory birds, well, this is the first time that I am hearing of such a thing (that tall wind farms can disrupt their flight path). Anyhow I really don't know of any major drawbacks when it comes to wind generations.

See these 2 videos of the Pakistan Alternative Energy Fair which I covered!
