Yesterday Norway was granted the dubious honour of being the coldest country in Europe. *sigh* It's still cold but clouding over. And here I was, over the moon because our Hellebores had buds and even a bloom or two. On the bright side the weather's good, and I've got sensible clothes for -10°C. Unfortunately we've got very little snow and I fear for our plants if the frost goes on for long. So what to do to cheer me up? Play with my furries of course! I'm trying to teach Truls the Pony to take a nice bow: I think he's doing pretty well. We'll keep on working at it. There's not much else to do outside anyways.
We haven't hit -10C/14F in many years but there have been winters where it didn't get that warm for days at a time. I miss those days Truls is doing very well, but then he would as he has a very good teacher who loves him very much.
Truls should take a bow--he's a star! Hope the weather gets better for you and you lose your #1 status in the cold competition.
Droopy, Truls is doing great. I never had the knowledge or patience to work with the horses to teach them tricks. You are awesome! Sorry to hear about the weather, though. We must be having just about the warmest winter I can ever remember, here. Yesterday it was over 50*f and today is supposed to be close. I am not seeing winter here. we must have had most of it last year. Which I am not at all sad about.
Awww, toni, how nice of you to say so. I'd gladly hand you a few of our below-zero temps, but all told I'm very happy about this winter compared to the one last year when -10°C was nice! And it lasted for six months too. Thanks, MG, I think we already have. Temps are rising, the smell of snow's in the air. Turkey's got snow now, Istanbul has -10°C and there's snow in North-Africa too. Imagine that! I shall stop complaining immediately. Caroly, that's so sweet of you. Thank you very much. I'm glad your winter's warm. I like a bit of cold and snow in winter, but December, January and a bit of February is more than enough winter for me. I hope my wish for an early spring is granted.
Beautiful picture of your trick pony. You are a hardy soul to be out working with your horse in such cold weather. When I was 10 I had a beautiful palomino horse.I taught him many tricks. Doris
Thanks, Doris. I always wanted a palomino, but they're few around here. Besides, Truls trotted up and stole my heart right away. I'm not very hardy, but I'm used to our weather. After all, I've chosen to live here. Cheryl, it does. I do enjoy their company. They make me get out, and I've heard the fresh air's good for me.
