I was wondering if anyone here grows/eats winter squash? I'm gonna try the Lakota squash and maybe some Table King bush acorn this year.

Yes. We have grown winter squash for years. Do you have a specific question or are you just looking to share experiences?

We grow our winter squash in a garden that gets sunlight most of the day. The first year it did not grow so the second year we started tilling in organic soil and fertilizer. They grew a little better that year.

Each year we always add more organic soil and fertilizer and mix it in with a rototiller. This has resulted in a very healthy soil build up over the years.

The bountiful harvest of winter squash we receive each year along with other vegetables has been well worth the effort.

I am or have grown; pink banana, acorn, buttercup, butternut, spaghetti, and pumpkin. Way yummy! They like lotsa room. I let mine wander out of the fence (need to fence here cause of deer) and wander up the hill.
