I pulled the tomato plant that had stopped growing after I removed the last of the biggest ripe maters off of it. Also cut down some ratty looking flower stalks that were done for the year. Got the raised bed pretty much cleaned up. But the red knockout roses that we bought last spring are still going strong. We have never been able to get roses to do much until this year. We tried knockouts a couple of years ago and they died after the first year and never came back. These have tripled in size and have bloomed all summer long!

Always a sad day here too, when it's time to pull up the garden. I hate this time of year!

My tomatoes still haven't turned red yet. If they don't soon them I'll be pulling the plant out too.

I pulled my old tomato plants out this week. The ones that I planted last month are still green but not growing. Too hot and dry.

Me agrees with jbest123. We are going strong yet. We won't get rid of the tomato plants until after the first frost. We will cover then with sheets when we have frost warnings. After that we will pick off all the tomatoes green and ripe ones and ripen them in bags in the pantry.

And you all know what I will do with them as they ripen...right? sauce sauce sauce :-D

We are still picking the 200+ plants in the garden. Most are still producing fairly well, but have slowed down and i am not picking 5+ bu at a time now. Spraying with daconil, copper and chloronithinal this year was the only way to keep a crop growing here. Otherwise the fungal diseases would kill off an entire garden in a week around here due to the weather extremes this year. I am thankful we still have a goodly amount to pick (as long as they ripen).

Our toms are still green, too! We'll be babying them and covering them with blankets if they don't turn by frost...a few weeks away, hopefully.

Your roses sound wonderful CK! Nevr heard of 'knockout' roses?
