Oxalis crassipes Rosea - Shamrock plant, Wood Sorrel, Strawberry Oxalis Prolific grower and bloomer with rose-pink flowers and clover-like leaves. Leaves will fold closed at night and reopen with morning's light. Have a blooming day!!
Nice flowers, looks like they are edible too. Native Americans would eat them to relieve thirst on long journeys. It has other interesting uses. Jerry
Thank you all for the kind words. Here is a close-up shot as my lens will get of the flowers of the Wood Sorrel. Have blooming day!
Beautiful photo. Now in Britain, wood sorrel is Oxalis acetosella, in white or very pale pink. I do have (no picture though) a deep pink one somewhere. Is this one as invasive as the British one? Just to be a bit picky, the plant is now called Oxalis articulata subsp. rubra
Thanks. This one is not "invasive" here in my garden, but it is a prolific grower. It has remained in the same spot in my garden for more than 5 years now and has not spread over 12 inches in any direction.
That's good. I planted a little pot of O. acetosella Arden (Agdon?) Castle a couple of years back and discovered clumps of it in many other places in the garden. Not sure of the name, it is hard to read the label and there is no record of it in any book etc.
