Anybody seen any this fall? I haven't here. I did see some last spring, but couldn't determine if they were left over from last year or if they were for this year !

I found a couple today while I was cleaning up a flower bed. I haven't seen many though. More different ones than any other time that I can remember. green ones, striped ones fuzzless/hairless ones, brown hairy one I had never seen before, the "tufted cassock" I smash with my foot when I see them. they are dangerous, but woolly bears.. hardly any so far.

I've seen lots! I actually took a picture for you the other day Capt, so that you can tell me about the winter ahead! Thanks for the reminder!

So Capt, how does the story go? The wider the stripe the more snow?

the black is supposed to denote severity and the brown the mildness. So if the left side is the head, Then early winter would have more snow, then mild then more snow.

I have learned that my area of NY has not seen them for nearly 10 years at least... I haven't seen them. I loved them they are awesome looking creatures. :)

Thanks Capt! Although, thinking back to when I took the photo this fellow was heading to the right so his head is on the right side. So this will mean then, snow, then mild and a cold end to winter? I'll be checking out any others I see today and they will be my 'official' winter forecast. I think they might be more accurate then the weather men :)
