I have my Christmas lights and garland and bows up on the front porch rails. I know it way early, and I usually do it the Friday after Thanksgiving which isn't for about 3 weeks. So why did I do it today? It's simple, it's 65 deg. F out there today! Now I just have to pray for a warm spell for the first week of Jan. when I go to take them down!

I'm with you CK. Get them up when it is warm and just plug them in! I remember a cold Texas weekend about 30 years ago. My son and DH were putting lights up and the wind was so strong it almost blew them off the ladder! :( They started putting them up while it was still warm.

Way to go Capt! I'm all for getting them up early too ... only I won't turn them on until December. Droopy, I guess you don't want to hear that I've started my Christmas shopping then....

I think that is called "making hay while the sun shines." So much better to do it now than wait for potentially bad weather.

I always wait until the weekend after Thanksgiving. For the last 20 years I've lived where it's fairly warm. But, I remember living in Wisconsin and doing it in the cold. dooley

You're way ahead of me, mate. We don't put them up until after "Sinterklaas" (5 dec).
I was in the centrum of town this morning to get the Mexican Flu prik and I saw them putting up the arches that will hold the christmas lights. It just gets earlier and earlier here.

Well, you are way behind us, well, not me personally, but the shops and the garden centres have been getting the Christmas gear out now for a couple of weeks, and now Halloween has come and gone, the shops are sparkly and festive. I am split...I LOVE Christmas and love all of the tinsel and Christmas songs, but I try to resist the urge until after my birthday on Nov 22nd. That said, I have spent the last 2 days Chrissy shopping and brought my cards this morning. :)

I was in a WalMart store today and they were playing Christmas music on the speakers. I do like to wait until after Thanksgiving. I think that's a great holiday but no one can wait until it passes it seems. dooley

I was in one of the dollar stores after work looking for "prize box goodies". I stopped and debated which of the snowflake Christmas ornaments to buy. (the store was packed with Christmas decorations  ) I was good and walked out with only a couple of snowmen table decorations for the staff room in January. It was hard, they had some nice looking big snowflakes that would have looked great hanging from the ceiling at the cabin. They will probably be gone the next time I check, but it still seems early. I need some of snow to get in the mood. ;)
