Hi, this plant was given to me by a departing colleague. It's been growing for about 3 years. It sits in a very small ceramic pot, loves to be watered every day, hates Miracle Grow (almost killed it), and loves fluorescent lighting. It only puts out one leaf at a time, always growing upward. It did put out something like 2 side "roots" from the main stem, but I was surprised to see something strange form at the end of the "roots" ... and they broke off. Don't have a photo of these things unfortunately. Hoping someone can tell me what this plant is. Here are 3 pictures: http://www.flickr.com/photos/a10a/25556 ... 141997.JPG http://www.flickr.com/photos/a10a/25556 ... 141997.jpg http://www.flickr.com/photos/a10a/25556 ... 141997.jpg
Definately looks like an Anthurium to me too. The plant you've shown us is completely root bound in that little pot though - hence you have to water it daily. I would suggest that you repot it ASAP in a pot that it as least 8" across. Here is a link that tells you all about Anthuriums. http://www.hawaiitropicals.com/anplancar.html Good luck.
