Would someone please go outside and check my flowers for me? It hailed again and it is pouring with lightning and thunder. At least it didn't hail as long as before so I think the damage should be light..this is the weirdest year for weather in Wisconsin...My flower bed around the patio is under water...the bark is floating...I guess this is what makes gardening so challenging...this year has thrown everything at us...Have a good day and stay dry everyone.....Sherry
Sherry I'm sorry to hear about hail but I sure would love to have alittle of that rain here in my part of Texas. It has rained all around me here but none in my yard
I am sorry I didn't buy the pond plants for around the patio.. :-D .....I have curbing around the back flower bed and the other side is cement patio...no where for the rain to go but down..and we have clay down under so it is messy and it holds the moisture too long...I wish I could send you some rain...rain in the forecast for the rest of the week here...it is still pouring ...Good weather for a duck..the temperature was 88 when I went to the store and by the time I got home it had dropped to 68.....
Gee, Sherry, I wish we could have one of those cool-down storms here. I'm only a little ways south of you and it is still over 90 this afternoon. It's kind of overcast, but no rain in sight. I've just spent the last 2 hours outside in the pool with my kids and half the neighborhood kids as well. My hubby will be up your way (Green Bay) tomorrow. I'll send him out to check your flowers for you.
It was a nice cooldown but if the sun comes out tomorrow your husband will need an air conditioned car for sure...our humidity is high..I will be waving to him as he goes through. Tell him to look for the Prospect Avenue exit...before Appleton....Sherry
Well, I spoke too soon. The temp just dropped to 70 here too. But aside from a little wind gusting, nothing else is going on. But it spoiled a nice day out in the pool. Guess I'll have to do housework or something else... I'll tell hubby to keep an eye out for your exit. He is actually from GRB and knows his way around that part of the state. He only moved down here 6 years ago to be with me. A couple of his sibs are still up there in De Pere.
Well the rain quit and the total so far is 2 1/2 inches in about 2-3 hours..thats enough for a while...please start the rain dance so you can benefit from this too...Sherry
My goodnersds Sherry... you've had quite some rain there. I hope that your plants will tolerate it well...and that the birdies can keep dry.
I'll send you some waterwings. Hope everything survives, sherry8. The only time we get 70's in summer is at night!! Gardengater
Sherry, I think that the storms this summer have a fixation on Hy 29. They seem to come down 29 from Minneapolis across the state to Green Bay and the Fox valley, getting Wausau and Stevens Point along the way. Some extend to the north some, up to Rhinelander, and others to the south, maybe to Madison, but they always seem to clobber that Hy29 corridor. Here in the far north we seem to get far less, and they come at night. Milwaukee got dumped on pretty hard a couple weeks ago, but it seems that when ever the TV starts showing storm warnings it's along Hy. 29. May be next year it will be Hy 8, or 94. We got some thunder and lightning, and about an inch at 1:00 AM last night, but I awoke only long enough to be aware that it happened. 65 now, but it's going to be another hot one in or near the 90s again. And, more storms I'll bet. I hope your plants survive. Tom
