Check out the shovel used by the Chinese military. This would be an amazing garden tool, in fact you could probably throw out most of your old tools :)

I have a US Army version, but it is a little different. When you fold the shovel down a piece comes up that is a pick. It is about 12 inches long and an inch wide. Great for digging rocks loose. The Army has had it for about 30 years or more!

Looks like it would be hard on the back, and it doesn't have a bright red handle, so I'd lose it in the garden (terrible tendency to lay tools down and forget where they are).
What I really enjoyed was the background music. Conjured up visions of Clint Eastwood, John Wayne, tumbleweed and a lone rider crossing the plains.
China really has some poor soil, doesn't it?

They should call it a multi-tool

It can really double-up as many other tools.

I suppose this being the military - they are not gardeners. They just wanted to show what can be done with the multi-tool.

ANother plus point - space saving..

We have a folding spade but it doesn't do all that!! I'd love to have one of those as it would save numerous trips to the shed for yet another tool every time a new job has to be done.

I think I may have found a reason to visit a local Army/Navy Surplus Store this weekend. Randy will love that idea since I never say yes when he asks if I want to stop at one when we are going someplace .

SNAP Toni. I've just 'phoned Ian and asked if we can visit one at the week-end too. :D I still have birthday/Christmas money to spend so I hope I can find a spade like the one in the video. :fingerscrossed:

I have one of these and I love it, bought it at a local Army Navy Surplus store...I painted the handle a neon yellow because I lose green tools in the garden!! The handle is wooden so it is easy to paint!
