I was out in my veggie garden yesterday picking some of the green beans and sweating up a storm. I have been so focused on the veggies that I had forgotten about my flower garden by the back deck. I was on my way up to the house and smelled something that was so heavenly smelling. I stopped and looked around but saw nothing that would smell that sweet. So I started walking up to the house again. The closer I got to the back door the more I could smell that sweet fragrance. I thought, where is that coming from. So I rounded the corner of the back deck and saw  this.

My Oriental Lilies where blooming like crazy and I didn't even know it. I really need to stop and smell the flowers every once in awhile. Especially these flowers. So I thought I would share with you what I almost missed.

Those are beautiful! I've had that happen too...I almost missed some of my favorite blooms. I guess we all need to remember to stop and smell the flowers sometimes.

I walk the garden each day trying to make sure that I do not miss any flower that has just opened. Every once and a while I get surprised. Sometimes I smell flowers and they are not mine, that is enough to drive you buggy trying to find a flower that is not in your yard. Beautiful lilies, thank you Patti for sharing.

Beautiful blooms and I can imagine the perfume! You need to wander round the back of your deck more often!

I'm almost sure I can smell those gorgeous lilies from here. Both are beautiful but I have to admit that I have a weakness for white flowers. :stew1:

    WOW. Really NICE!
    I love them both!
They release their perfume in the evening, especially.
My last lily for this year is blooming now...

Those lilies are really doing well for you, aren't they. I know ALL about how one can overlook the flowers in one's garden because of work. Tch! Yes, I know very well.
That is why I am taking some time off especially to look and appreciate at this very moment.
This posting is a good reminder to all of us to ....stop the music and take the time to look at the fruits of our and Mother Nature's labour.

I really do like the fragrance of lilies, but do not grow them. Oh I have tried ...and they come up--but the little beetles take them because I simply do not have the time to put into combating them properly. I shall enjoy yours and those of others on here. While I miss the fragrance, I can still have a visual appreciation.
