I hope you're not all iris-ed out because these lovely ladies graced my garden with their presence this morning. Now for something completely different - one of my giant poppies. The bees love collecting that black pollen.
Now THESE are supurb! I didn't realize that you had such a collection of irises. Boy am I having a good oggle. Truly candy for the eyes, as they say. That first one with the purple trim is remarkable. I'm really impressed with it's beauty especially; while the rest have their merits of course, that's the one that speaks to me.---loud and clear! It's so nice to have a variety of one sort of plant, isn't it? These are sooooooo nice to see.
I can never get enough irises . . . they are my favorite . . . we only had one to bloom this year . . . I am thinking it must be the horrible drought we experienced last year . . . (and it's looking to be another dry one this year, God forbid!) :'(
I can never get tired of Iris Eileen! (And I hope everyone else can stand a few more as mine haven't hit their peak yet. You KNOW I'm going to have to post pics of them ) We have that first one at work and it's the most fragrant Iris I've ever smelled. Do you know it's name? That pink Poppy is gorgeous!
Just gorgeous Eileen, keep the Iris pictures coming. My favorite is #3 with #1 as a close second. The only ones that bloomed for me this year were the newly planted blackish ones several weeks ago. None of the dozens of purple ones I have had for several years did, the leaves grew and gave me great hope but not a bloom formed.
Your Iris are truly beautiful! I love that first one, and the second too, and the rest of them, including the poppy. I never tire of seeing flower photos.
Does anyone ever get tired of iris? Mine have been long gone so I now get to enjoy ones posted here. Keep them coming. dooley
I love Irises but that black poppy is to die for.Its so different and I do love different .I love it ,love it.
Thanks everone!!! I love iris's too and can't get enough of them. While I was showing a friend around the garden this afternoon she pointed into the pond and guess what - this was flowering there and I hadn't even noticed!!!
I lurve iris Eileen. I have 2 different ones in the pond, a blue and a white one, and then I have the yellow clump forming ones in the garden, the small flowered ones that have the red berries in the winter but lovely beardies, well, I have half a dozen in a pot which one of my ladies was throwing out, but they haven't flowered yet. I will probably plant them in a super sunny spot in the autumn and keep my fingers crossed for next year.
What a great surprize that 'pond lily' was! And lovely too. BTW...what is the name of that first white and purple one? Another questiopn directed to all you iris-growers: Can you advise me of a couple od irises that bloom in July or august? Do they exist, actually? Thanks in advance.
Eileen I think it's a safe bet to say we NEVER tire of iris Yours are beautiful, I like them all. I wish I had a pond or boggy area to plant some of those kind. I just recently began to appreciate iris and believe me I appreciate them $$$ My mom & grandma always grew them but they were just the plain old yellow or purple ones. Then I discovered the internet!!! I had no idea there were so many diferent kinds or sizes! Sjoerd I have some that bloom early spring and again in the early fall. I don't think they show up in July or August, I think it's late August or September. I can look up the names if you are still interested. Deanna :-D
