But, at the weekend, Marks Nan took a tumble down her stairs and is now in hospital and has received a partial hip replacement. She suffers from Alzheimers, which in a way, is proving to be a blessing, as she forgets what she has done and who is who and what is what, and is happilly walking around, eating, and doing as she is told, unlike my grumpy old nan, who has just had a pacemaker fitted as she really hasn't recovered well from her hip op and then heart attack. Mark will be popping to the hospital on his way home from work tomorrow for a visit, which will be nice. On the upside, I have my mum coming to stay for a long weekend, arriving tomorrow, so I won't be online much, but it means we are going to hit all of the local garden centres, and she already has me some new garden lights as my Easter gift, so that will be lovely. Now, keep your fingers and toes crossed that I have nothing else to report for the forseeable future.
I've even crossed my eyes EJ!! I hope weather stays good for your mum's visit and that you buy lots of lovely things at the garden centre. Let's both keep our fingers crossed that your nans recover well and that your 'grumpy' one's mood sweetens as the weather improves.
Well, that's life with Nans and Grans, isn't it? Ah well, Mums make it all right again. I hope the Nans each do well, and enjoy your weekend with your mom.
EJ, not fed up with your doom and gloom at all, just so sorry that so much is happening at the same time for you and your family. Hope Mark's Nan is home again real soon, my Dad had Alzheimers but he wasn't pleasant to be around Have a good long weekend with your Mum and here's to hoping that the next thing you report is only about all the goodies the two of you find at the garden centers
Oh, dear! *big hug* Sometimes the bad things just seem to congregate and suck all your energy away. Hopefully you're in for some smooth sailing for a while now. I hope both Nans will be mending and back to their usual selves shortly.
Thanks for your kind words. Mark visited his nan tonight, and he said she is the picture of health. By far the chirpiest person in the ward, which is great to hear. She doesn't really understand what she has had done, and can't remember what the various docs and consultants have told her, so she is walking fine and eating and drinking well, and enjoying all of the attention. Fortunately, if fortunately can be used, her alzheimers is making her quite childlike, which Mark feels will help her recovery because she isn't worried about what is going on. I will keep you posted. As for mothers arrival - I did the 3 hour round trip, and she is now safely here in Essex with us. We did go via the supermarket where she stocked up on all the luxuries I can't afford for us to enjoy with her. Tomorrow we are going for a pampering session at the little beauty parlour around the corner, then out for lunch, then a garden centre on the way home. And the weather forecast is good!!
So glad Mark's nan is doing so well EJ. It sounds as though she's actually enjoying herself to the full!! Have a lovely time with your mum when you go for your pampering session, lunch and, most of all, the garden centre. I hope there's plenty of bargains for you to choose from.
What bad luck for Mark's nan. It sounds as if she is doing well though. I for one, do not tire of your notes on the unfortunate things going one there from time to time...that's what pals are for--lending and ear and a shoulder when necessary. Sounds like you guys and your mum are going to have a nice visit. Please do keep us posted on the progress.
