I was watching one of the few garden related TV programs we have on our PBS station the other day and in the background of one scene was a large shrubby plant with large bright purple cone shaped blooms that I did not recognize. I thought that if that plant would handle our climate it would be great to have in my garden.

So I went to Google and entered ---Large cone shaped purple blooms photos--. The search resulted in several photos on the web and the second photo looked exactly like the one I had seen in the TV program so I clicked on it and then the Visit Page button and was very surprised to find myself looking at a post made on Gardenstew back in 2009

You just never know when our very own GardenStew is going to come to your rescue, yet again. :)

Toni, I've stopped being surprised at the width and depth of knowledge of Stew members. Ask any question, you'll get a coherent response. I can't number the times I've been helped by the good folks here.
