i have a hosta that i started from seed back in january and was wondering if this will require any protection over winter? can it be left outdoors? its still in a pot at the moment . . . also are they slow growers from seed? mine hasn't put on a massive amount of growth and is still quite small. dont they die back through the winter months? :?:

That's a great looking Hosta! I grew a Hosta Vertricosa from seed once. I left it outdoors for the winters and treated it the same as the older Hosta's. I do remember it took a long time before it grew big enough to bloom.

Nice baby! :D I've potted up a couple of volunteer hosta babies and just left them outside over winter. They did very well. Your climate's a lot warmer than mine so I think yours will do well too. Good luck.

No, I haven't fed them - with the exception of a bit of compost once a year.
