    Zinnia Skipper ( photo / image / picture from drissel122's Garden )

Last summer I enjoyed standing amid my tall zinnias and snapping photographs of the Skipper Butterflies flitting and alighting upon the petals. I relived the moment as I watercolored this small (5 x 7) painting of them. I especially enjoy the circle of florets. They seems to have a sense of magic about them, as do the zinnias in real life.

Thanks Netty and Daisybeans, I really enjoyed painting this. I'm looking through my reference shots for more zinnias photographs. I love to grow them and I love to paint them.

You have a real flair for capturing nature drissel. I find myself wanting to see more of your watercolours though every time you post one. Guess I'm just greedy!! :p

Kathy what I would give to have only an ounce or your talent. Each watercolor you show is better than the last. Just gorgeous!

Thanks...working on some new larger watercolors. I call them floral vignettes. I use my floral design background and combine a handful of my reference shots. In honor of spring and Easter I'm including a duckling in the first...everytime I look at him in the initial sketch I smile. I can't wait to get started painting it.
