Now, where was I?

That's another job done.I'm delighted with the new pond edging effect of cobbles, which I think has worked a treat. I had to raise the ones by the path a little to maintain a less dangerous flooding situation, and after refilling the pond checked that the excess water run off was still under the patio slabs as before. I like the almost flushness of the pond to the surrounding terrain, and as I shot it this morning there wasn't a whisper of a breeze about, so the water is like a perfect mirror. There are no fish in the pond at the moment, and any change in the water's condition through the cementing will be left now to restabilise as it's gradually replaced with fresh rainwater (- heaven knows there's been enough of that lately!) If I do eventually add some fish I'll need a heron deterrent too. This blog entry has been viewed 735 times

That does the trick alright Pete, really fits in with the whole look of the pond. Did you run into any little snags using the method you mentioned before or did all go according to plan?
Now that's really lovely Pete. The water is like sheer glass and I love the way the trees are reflected on its surface.
Dodging the weather was the main problem. I started off with five milk bottles and as the days passed finished with eight, so it got quicker towards the end.
Looks great Pete!
Very nice looking pond. I love the reflection also. Must be quite relaxing to sit by.
Looks great, Pete. Do watch the pH tho with the fresh concrete leaching lime into the pond water.
It is a great pond Pete. You have done yourself proud.I love the reflection also.
Wonderful spot, but whoise ears are those? :)
Just lovely, Pete. I wouldn't think herons would bother a pond of that size, but perhaps your herons are smaller? Ours stand about shoulder-high and prefer saltwater. Will you use koi? I'm Madame Cheapo, and have found feeder goldfish to do a dandy job of keeping mosquitos away. You have inspired me to put a path 'round my pond, should solve the mowing troubles I've had!
Really beautiful, Pete!
Herons here seem to be attracted to any reflection on the ground, no matter how small. Our variety might not be quite as large. There was one that was a nuisance where I used to live. The ponds there were only smallish but it used to land on the garage roof and then hop down for breakfast.
