Family fun.The game was well received yesterday by the fourth player (who hadn't seen it before), and with a few more tweaks of the rules to bend it more towards strategic play, it's becoming quite addictive (another quality that I think is a vital ingredient.) Isn't it a shame that so many games now are digitally non-tactile software operated? Where's all that family interaction gone? I vote for a comeback of those pleasant Sunday afternoons and evenings around a table, with a few drinks, and something more than just a whining discdrive, square eyes and a sore button punching finger! What's all that about? This blog entry has been viewed 554 times

Glad to hear the fourth player was impressed Pete!
When I was growing up, a million years ago, pre TV, computer, etc., we played all sorts of board, card and outside games. We actually found friends and played outside with each other! Good on you, Pete, for getting back to that.
Pete we love strategy games in our family and often have our youngest son and his girlfriend over. We can, literally, spent hours playing just one board game and thoroughly enjoy it!! I think interaction with other family members, away from games consoles and computers, is the way games should be played.
Pete my family still plays card and board games also!! It's sooo much fun to sit down and enjoy the game and mostly each other. We like to play Scrabble,UNO,Skip-bo,Yahtzee,Clue and Monopoly! The boys love to play chess, but I don't know how to play! Unfortunely nowadays game nights don't happen very often, everyone is always too busy!!<sigh>
So, it's a big thumbs up so far for a revival and/or continuation of those halcyon days of friendly feuding around the living room table.
We used to play a lot of board games with the girls, but not so much anymore.
I say,"Hooray foe board games." I think the family interaction is so very important for children. Having said that, I must say I play no games at all anymore. However, I hate to see kids totally connected with an electronic gizmo of any type. It just removes them from the mainstream. Television was bad enough.
We used to have family game night with Amanda, but she has other things to do now. We usually played Yahtzee, Sorry, Double 9 Dominoes and/or Boggle.
Talking about 'Buccaneer' and pinching treasures, here's what's been happening lately on the other side of Devon (South).
I do love board games lots.
Actually my remark about the motorbikes was inexcusably flippant. Following TV news coverage I've now learned that the beached ship is an environmental time bomb. Let's hope they can get all that toxic stuff off quickly. Login or register to leave a comment. |
