I don't sow squash , cukes or melons until about 10 days before I want to put them in the garden. Anything more than the cotyledons and one leaf seem to take longer to be productive than little bit larger of plant. Cukes I don't direct sow, too many variables to getting them to germinate out in the garden. Especially if there is the possibility of last years cucurbits being left over winter anywhere and germinating, then I don't know which ones were new seeds or last years "volunteer" crop. Which could end up being cantelope, watermelon or cucumbers.
All I can say is that I envy you. Last frost date here is June 1, I've been known to start tomatoes in January. Very little can be direct sewn here. I may print out your indoor start dates and back them off a couple of weeks for myself.
