I am at war with my lawn. The weeds, those ugly patches of green stuff that pop up out of nowhere, annoy me. It's like fighting a never-ending battle. I've recently done some research on how to combat these evil little green things.

To help combat weeds in your lawn:
1- Fill any empty patches of lawn with new grass. Plant grass seed to prevent weeds from coming up. Also spread new seed all over your lawns to grow in those empty places which are easy to overlook.

2- Fertilize the lawn enough to encourage new grass growth. Too much fertilizer will also encourage weed growth.

3- Water grass infrequently, but deeply.

4- Mow high. Mowing low cuts off your grass leaves and prevents them from obtaining nutrients. When using a push or riding lawn mower, adjust the mower deck so its not too close to the ground.
