Leopard Eggs Didn't make it :(

Category: Leopard Moth from egg to pupa to moth | Posted: Fri Apr 05, 2013 5:15 pm

Hi :( I ended up scraping them off because if I didn't they would've died anyway. I'm sorry I won't be able to continue this blog. I'm really sad, I may never get to see this experience again :/ Well, have a nice day!

So sorry. I know you were really looking forward to watching them until they hatched. Maybe you will get another chance someday. Hope by then your life won't be too busy to enjoy.

As early in the season as it was there is a chance those eggs had not been fertilized so they wouldn't have hatched.

The female Leopard moth lives only to lay eggs, literally. Even if there is no male to fertilize them, she will lay them.
You may get another chance when there are more of them hatched out and flitting around, they don't just lay eggs in the spring.

These things happen in nature all the time so don't feel bad about the moth eggs. Maybe you'll get another chance to see eggs hatching later on in the year. Check the underside of plant leaves in the garden as many butterflies and moths lay eggs that you can watch develop outdoors.
