Sunflower Journal, Saturday 6/11/16, week 17

Category: Gardening | Posted: Sat Jun 11, 2016 12:23 pm

It was inevitable, but the sunflowers are winding down. Honestly, I didn't expect to still see blooms after seventeen weeks. The highlight is definitely the lone, ten footer that is proudly standing far above the others. I don't know how it survived. We had at least two more wind storms since I posted pictures of the wind damage. In fact, I had a few more sunflowers that were destroyed by the wind. Somehow though, that one has managed to make it through unscathed.

I plan to keep on with the journal until they are all gone. It will be sad, but that is how it goes when you grow annuals. I guess it's kind of a metaphor for life. Beginnings and endings.

I agree EG, it will be good to see them through to the very end, if only for completeness sake.
We can all learn something from that 10-feeter!
