Welcome to the world of my craft projects...I keep thinking I will get started on my totems, but all I have done so far is collect the glass and glue and embellishments. I need to find some plates for the anchors. And so far haven't had any luck. Today is a nice and cool day in East Texas, so I plan on getting out and scouring the thrift stores. You know you can almost get better deals at dollar stores. Thrift stores tend not to make deals, because they are helping fund different things i.e. womens shelters, animal shelters, etc. So the price you see is what you pay. Oh well... guess I could get gluing on some of the things I have and put the anchor on last. Since I haven't made a totem as yet, that may not be a good way to start! But you learn by trying and making mistakes! Better put my glasses on, turn the lights on and raise the blinds and get going! Monday night is Bingo night at my community center and I always look forward to that! Ta~ta for now... This blog entry has been viewed 949 times

Good Luck at bingo tonight.
Don't worry about making mistakes on the first attempt KG, it will be your first attempt after all. Just throw yourself at it and be sure to provide us with (photographic?) updates :)
Good luck in finding a base for your totem Kuntrygal. You must let us see a piccie of the finished article as we love to see what others make.
I usually put my totems together in sections, then glue the sections together one at a time letting them dry in between. Are you making free standing totems? If so you can get started on them without the anchor plates. Glass microwave plates make good anchors and you are right about stores like the Dollar Tree, or Only a Buck, you can get a large plate there cheaper than a thrift store usually.
I am going to anchor mine on a short post as one of mine is a lamp base and If I wrap bubble wrap and other soft items around the post the glass should not break.(This was sugested to me by Cajunbelle)She is good at this.
I find that dollar stores are great for finding bargains. Especially the one that are truely dollar stores and nothing costs over a dollar. You sound like you are having fun anyway. Login or register to leave a comment. |
