My excuse is, "but it was on sale!". But, $2.77 really is a good sale on 6" pot perennials, and they were of nice quality. I was so very happy to see these plants were actually filling the pot with roots without being root-bound, instead of finding a small plug had just been put in a bigger pot so they could charge more.
*begin vent* This is something I'm seeing in one particular large nursery lately, it is just wrong to charge me $10 for a $.99 plug in a big pot! At least put this stuff out of circulation until it's ready to be sold!
*end vent*
So, I picked up some English Lavender 'Munstead', Meadow Sage 'East Friesland', Coneflower 'PowWow Wild Berry', Speedwell 'Fairytale' and Spotted Dead Nettle 'White Nancy'.
I'm filling in what is technically a partial shade garden under the walnut tree, however we're going to be removing the walnut tree soon and I think these plants might be able to handle the tannic acid left over from the walnut tree. We'll see!
I also picked up a large bag of stargazer lilies on sale, but planted those as far away from the walnut tree as I could in that area, I think they'll be fine.
