I Hate Squeaks at Night

Category: Pets | Posted: Sun Jan 20, 2013 10:35 am

Would you like to take my photo? Buddy, alias rat catcher ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden )

This calm, self assured guy is Buddy. He has trained two generations of dobies and is working on our latest dog child. I don't know why he feels the need to bring in live rodents, but Buddy just brought in his latest catch tonight, or should I say this morning. Ugh! Pulling out furniture, baskets and chairs during the mad chase to corner a skittering squeaking creature at two in the morning is not the kind of adrenaline rush I want at that time of day.

Ciara, alias rat crusher ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden )

Ciara is getting better at snapping them up, but it really helped having someone like Amber small enough to get behind and under big pieces of furniture. Amber kept it moving, so I could do as much squealing as the poor doomed adolescent rat.

Our big brave male (my sweetie) took the rodent remains outside to the garbage. Now I just need to relax enough to fall back asleep

I can just picture the scene in your house!! Sorry but I couldn't help grinning when I read abot your early morning hunt. Let's hope Buddy gets tired of bringing rodents into your home soon. Meantime good luck with catching them!!

Eileen, i'm afraid old Buddy isn't able to kill them any more, just catch them. I think I appreciate dead over alive now. This is the third one in the last year he's brought into the house. I'm even thinking of locking his kitty door, at night any way.

Hank, i do believe Buddy enjoys the commotion he starts. Afterwards he sat down in my lap and purred loudly for an hour before falling asleep.

Before Amber, (last summer) Buddy let a rodent loose that hid out for two days in the entertainment unit. The dogs and cat sat for hours staring at it. Boy does that piece of furniture have a lot of crawl spaces in it! This time Amber was right in those little spaces ferreting the poor thing out. Thank goodness! I'd spent an entire day cleaning up after the trapped rodent this summer.

Hahaha...good story. Those pets of yours really do keep you entertained, don't they.
Maybe they're just anxious for spring to arrive. ;-)
