Tip for Planting Those Containers

Category: Container Gardening | Posted: Wed Apr 22, 2009 11:54 am

Before you plant, use your hands or a trowel to work water into the soil in your planter, pot or container. This is very important when working with soil-less mixes containing peat moss. It is a good idea to have the roots of your plants wet before planting as well. Then thoroughly water your planters and containers for an excellent beginning.

cant remember now it was a few years back but moist soil is definitely a lot easier to work with.

It is also a good idea to ensure that the roots of your plants are moist before you place them in the dampened soil. Just gives them a good head start!

i bought some Tennessee Ostrich Ferns for a shady part of my garden a few months back and they were sitting in the bag all this time.
I soaked em good for a lil bit just recently in some water and they look like they did good from it. I will now make this a practice for all my new root exposed plants..
