Marine life.

Category: My wildlife images | Posted: Wed Aug 17, 2011 9:38 pm

I had a couple of good low tide outings this year. This was the third year looking for marine life. With experts along to ID themm it makes things so much easier. I will probably make up a page or two to go with the recent pages that I have been working on. These were three new ones this year.

Shield-backed Kelp crab, Pugettia producta. ( photo / image / picture from Kildale's Garden )

Is the first photograph some type of sea slug by any chance Kildale?
All three are new to me and I really enjoy seeing the different species you discover and show us.

Thank you Eileen for the post. They say that they belong to sea slugs.

The lined chiton is a work of "Native American" art. I have never seen one with such a pretty pattern on the shell.

Karrma, I agree that lined chiton looks like a work of art I could set on the coffee table.

Is the shield back crab as large as it looks to be??

The crabs body shell is about 3 1/2 inches. The sea grass leaves are about 1/2 wide to give you some idea.
