Green Lacewing.

Category: My wildlife images | Posted: Sun Nov 24, 2013 5:48 am

The Green lacewing is a friend of gardeners. The young eat more aphids than any other insect. They are number one. It is very small, it is only about 1/2 an inch long, so this is rather a close up.

Sadly these beneficial insects are becoming rarer here but I don't know why.

We are amazed that we have these here in the desert, but they are always in the fruit trees all summer. In central ca we called them pests since they bite but we knew how beneficial they are in the real pest control.
