Category: My Garden Birds | Posted: Mon Aug 10, 2009 8:18 pm

There are a lot of different flies and close up many are superb. Here are a few that I have taken in the garden.

Aren't some insects amazing as they take on the appearance of wasps and bees to deter preditors? I have an abundance of hover flies this year and they come in all shapes and sizes.

Amazing. I was wondering if some of the biting hornets weren't flies after looking at your pictures. If I didn't have to smash them to protect myself I might have a chance to figure it out.

Remember that flies have one pair of wings, wasps etc have two.
