Red-breasted Sapsucker. This species doesn't come into the back garden very often, the last time I saw one in the back garden wes 4 or 5 years ago. Anyway, I saw one today and managed to take a few shots. A Red-breasted Sapsucker, it was busy making holes in the tree for the sap. Had a great trip to Hawaii. So glad you enjoyed your trip Kildale. I'm even happier to see you back with us though!! I've never seen a Red Breasted Sapsucker before so thank you for posting your photograph for us. Let's hope it becomes a regular visitor now.
Great photo and glad to hear you had a great trip. I alway enjoy seeing your birds as most of them do not inhabit the southern US. I've seen the yellow bellied sapsucker in my yard.
I was just thinking about you yesterday Kildale. I'm glad you enjoyed your trip and glad you're back.
Thank you all for the welcome back and looking at the birds etc. I do try to get down into the southern US, California and Arizona and have a few birds from there and lots of flowers.
I'm glad you enjoyed your trip. Your photo is excellent. I've wanted to see a Red-breasted Sapsucker for as long as I've been birding. You are lucky to have one. Let's hope it visits regularly!
