out from under the snow!

Category: my Winter thoughts | Posted: Sat Jan 23, 2010 6:36 pm

The snow is gradually disappearing! I guess it is slowly soaking in, because we haven't seen the sun for more than a week, although the temps are milder (low 30s) Yesterday the wind came up out of the southeast, and we had a bit of rain. So much better than snow! This morning we looked out and there were my little shrubs peeking out from their snow and ice prisons. I am thrilled to see them again! Also visible again are the rock borders and the concrete bench that had been completely buried.
It is still cloudy, but so much better. There are still big piles of snow where we scooped it away from the drive.
I am getting addicted to Garden Stew, it is like "virtual gardening" !
I'm also really having fun navigating around the site and getting to know you all.

Hi Kay...it is 54 right now, I just came in from cleaning all the feeders & bird baths.
I wanted to do some yard work but we have had so much rain it is too soggy. I think we all have cabin fever.

It's been nice here and I've been outside but not much is done. I hope all of your snow is gone leaving you with bare ground to work with or in.

Everything in my garden is emerging from the snow too but oh what a mess it's left behind. Once the rain clears away I'll have to get out there and so some serious tidying. I have noticed though that I have snowdrops flowering and my daffodils are almost 2" out of the soil which cheered me up no end.

We are a long way from bare ground! I did get out today and pick up wind fall from my huge Sycamore. It is a mess here too, and going to be messy for a while I'm afraid.
