A Visit to the lake

Category: my Winter thoughts | Posted: Mon Mar 01, 2010 4:06 pm

Over the weekend we decided to drive out to the cabin to check things out. This is about 12 miles south of town. when we arrived this is what the gate looks like.

So, we have to hike down to get to the cabin.

It was sunny, but still pretty cold. We fed the birds, and took a walk around to check up on everything. All is well. Can't wait to be out there this spring and summer! The lake is under 20" of ice. We walked out on the ice, and saw various critter prints criss crossing the snow.

I was enjoying the view, and breathing in some brisk, fresh air. Then, wouldn't you know, my camera tells me the battery is exhausted! So, I can't share any more of the day's experience. Oh Well, maybe next visit!

OMG! My dream home in the woods. Is the cabin insulated? Will it retain heat from the stove? Can I move in tomorrow?

Peace and tranquility - who could ask for more? I'd have loved to have been there with you Kay looking at all those animal tracks.
You must show us more photographs when you visit your cabin in the spring and summer.

Do you ever go out and ice skate on the lake? I love your little get away. Its wonderful that it is so close too so you can visit it often.

What a great little place to escape too...and so convenient just 12 miles out of town. I just got home from buying a back up battery for my digital. I hate it when I miss shots because my battery is charging!

What a neat retreat! Do you grow a lot of wildflowers there?

Thanks for the nice comments! The little cabin is pretty rustic. We do burn wood and it's real nice and cozy! Don't have ice skates, but sure have done a lot of "ice sliding" :) I have a lot of wildflowers and perennials that thrive on little care because we aren't out there every day. I have a little herb garden too. We get out much more often when the weather is good, it really is a nice get away! Its where we fell in love! :) many moons ago...

How nice that you shared that special place with us. I hate to say this, but I think Spring is running behind there, Kay. I can't wait to see your wildflowers when it arrives.
