Garden composting
Category: Country Living | Posted: Thu Apr 17, 2014 7:27 pm I often get asked this question" How soon can I plant vegetables after putting kitchen scraps in my garden?" The best way to compost directly into your garden, is to dig a one foot deep trench down the centre of the bed and each time you put scraps into it cover with 2-4 inches of soil. Vegetables can be planted over the filled-in area at any time. ![]() Well composted garden ( photo / image / picture from Ena's Garden ) This blog entry has been viewed 131 times
Who's calling?
Category: Country Living | Posted: Thu Apr 17, 2014 4:10 pm This is my cat Boots, he loves to play with the phone and I almost believe that he could hold a conversation! He is not allowed to go outside as there are too many rodents around the farm, so he sits at the window and watches the birds , his tail switches from side to side and I know he is thinking " just let me out there!" He opened my bottom kitchen cupboards and tried to get in , telling me that some mice were around . I promptly cleared them out and sure enough, there was traces of mice. So Boots got a gold star!! Waiting !!!
Category: Country Living | Posted: Mon Apr 14, 2014 5:35 pm Well here in the country where I live there is still lots of snow on the ground. I am desperately looking for signs of spring and came across this little nest of hungry babies waiting for mum to return with their food. ![]() We have also a regular little wren who nests in the same bird house on the tree every year. The only problem is that she will not tolerate any other birds nesting anywhere in the garden and for all that she is so small she packs a mighty wallop, sending other birds on their way!
