Herbs
Category: Home Life | Posted: Sun Jun 11, 2017 2:03 pm So I guess I'm using this summer to try growing a variety of plants! I've planted some basil, coriander, parsley, rosemary and lemongrass. First to show up is the basil! (So cute):) basil ( photo / image / picture from Silkie's Garden ) This blog entry has been viewed 176 times

Experimenting with soil.
Category: Home Life | Posted: Mon Jun 05, 2017 5:24 pm So my new little succulent was in a really heavy wet soil and had some yellowing at it's base. All we had on hand was regular potting soil, so I mixed some aquarium gravel with it and repotted the little beauty. Not sure if it'll help all that much, but I guess we're going to find out! A striped addition.
Category: Home Life | Posted: Mon Jun 05, 2017 5:04 am As expected, my surprise from hubby was a new leafy friend. Look at this cute little thing! My hubby said most of the zebra cacti were pretty sad looking, so I appreciate him having found this little beauty even more! Dante meets Atlas! (Pets)
Category: Home Life | Posted: Sat Jun 03, 2017 2:06 pm Our lovely little betta (Dante)seemed bored, so after a bit of research on suitable tank mates, we went and purchased a little clown pleco! We weren't sure how it was going to work out as bettas can be quite territorial. It's been two days though and our betta just loves the pleco! There was no flaring or nipping at all, and Dante just continually goes to check on the pleco (Atlas). Atlas is hiding in a cave most of the day and now Dante spends a lot more time toward the bottom of the tank checking him out. Dante is also very expressive, dancing and blowing bubbles when he's happy and quite obviously snubbing any attention when he's not. We are being rewarded with quite a happy, dancing fish now.:) Bonus pic of Lily! She's our 10 yr old tarantula currently living with my mom. Introductory post
Category: Home Life | Posted: Fri Jun 02, 2017 11:34 pm Hi, and thanks for checking out my blog! Firstly, a tad about me. I'm a 25 year old bibliophile and yoga enthusiast. I'm also huge animal lover and have always had multiple small pets of various species. My family and I are staying with my cousin whilst working on our house. She's a wonderful, loving person who really doesn't like animals. Enter the world of houseplants! I've just started acquiring a few new leafy friends. (I'm drawn to dark, lush foliage and trailing plants.) I visited Lowe's a few days ago with the intent to purchase a Peace Lily (of which they had several) when one lone Silver Philodendron caught my eye. I picked it up and placed it back several times, because I had really been wanting a Peace Lily for about a year. I picked up the Peace Lily and was about to head out, when my husband took our 5 year old to the bathroom. So indecisively I ran back and carried home my beautiful Philo instead. So, now I've had him for a few days and am trying my hand at propagating a stem cutting and potted up a little off shoot that was growing from the pot. Fingers crossed!
