Going blind
Category: Adversity | Posted: Thu Dec 11, 2008 10:20 am I have a near neighbour and friend who has suffered from poor sight for a number of years, during the past year due to an infection in one eye it had to removed, at the same time the sight in the "good" eye has deteriorated to the point that he is probably 90% blind and it may be that he will lose that eye as well.He is what I call relatively young at early fourty and a countryman who has earned his living doing a physical job so by losing his sight he has lost his capacity to earn a living coupled with fact his life was being involved in rural pursuits. It is very difficult for him to know what the way forward is,his humour has not left him but I am sure under the surface he must be very nervous for what the future holds,he is very much a part of village life and many in the community do their bit to jolly him along. I am sure that this a beginning for him not an end but how it will evolve I am not sure. His big love is his dogs so each morning early we hook up and walk in the fields with our dogs something until two weeks ago he could do alone and unaided, but it does give us the chance to start the day with a good gossip and laugh. Thing of beauty
Category: Healthy Roses | Posted: Mon Nov 17, 2008 12:40 pm It has been such a wet season for everyone,a late harvest for farmers unable to get on the land and not so important in the scheme of things the buds on my roses rotting as they form, also the double whammy of rust, again I suppose relating to the wet weather?
