New Ideas

Category: My Garden Adventures | Posted: Sat Aug 29, 2009 5:46 pm

Well...as I was drinking coffee this morning I wondered out loud if we could grow our own coffee. My son said that would be great. I said, I will look up specifically, how to grow your own coffee on your patio. I thought that was funny; but, I looked it up anyway. To my surprise...I found sites that referenced growing your own coffee indoors. I am looking forward to trying this. I have to find some green coffee beans first.

Garden and other plans

Category: My Garden Adventures | Posted: Wed Aug 26, 2009 3:58 pm

I am starting some new seeds in coffee filters. Oregano, Chives, lavender, and Chamomile. This should help me know for sure what plants are actually growing. It is supposed to help them to germinate quicker too.

We are currently having a nice rain outside. It seems to rain every few days here in Overland, Park. The temperature for the next week will be in the 70's. Since I am planning on bringing my herbs inside when the cold weather hits, I think I should be able to plant my seeds anytime. Hopefully they won't care. I knew I would make some mistakes on my first attempt at growing herbs but I am still a little disappointed in my progress. I do believe that I will have a great herb garden by next year though.

I also plan to make some fermented sauerkraut. I have never made that before so I hope I do well. I will start with a 2 and 1/2 gal container. That way I won't be too upset if I mess up. I want to make some homemade yogurt also.

I have really been enjoying myself uploading photos and reviewing photos others have shared. I am excited thinking that I can ask questions and maybe some day even answer a question. :)[/img]
