The project of the day

Category: Setting Goals | Posted: Wed May 19, 2010 1:39 pm

Today I am setting a goal for myself. I am going to get all the rocks from around my shed and add them to my drive way. This way I am able to get my seeds planted there. And my drive way is running short on rocks but the landlord will not get any for it. So I am taking it into my own hands and fixing it myself. I wish I would not have to do this because it is going to be a back breaking process. However, I feel it is going to be worth the work. I also keep an old saying in my mind, NO PAIN NO GAIN! Therefore, in order to obtain the yard I want to have I need to work and feel the pain. Hopefully I am able to get it all done today. I also need to get my husband to get out of the house today and clean out the gutters. That will be another back breaking process LOL. Hope everyone enjoys their day and gets all the goals they want to get done today finished! Good Luck to all fellow gardeners!

Great weekend for working in the yard

Category: Great weekend | Posted: Mon May 17, 2010 3:45 pm

This past weekend was so wonderful for working out in the yard. I accomplished so much and am so happy with the work that I have done. I weeded around the house and the flower beds, planted flowers next to the house and in the rest of my flower beds, also got the garden planted and set up a bench outside by the garden. I only have two more projects to get started and hopefully finished before the summer is over. We have a shed in our yard and they put rocks under it well I am trying to get all the rocks under the shed this way I have more areas to plant flowers and hopefully keep the rocks out of my yard. Then the back of the house in an area that gets no sun and is moist I want to put a walk way in there and some pretty ground covering to make it look presentable. Right now it is a pile of dirt and our old refridge. Need to get that out of there and find some pretty ground covering that can stand the shade.I am also putting a border at the end of it to keep the flowers in there and off of the side walk that goes right in front of it.

I have the pond clean :)

Category: Water Garden Project | Posted: Sun May 16, 2010 4:04 am

The pond is now clean. I need to take a skimmer to it to get the little things floating in the water. But the water is now clear and you can see all the way to the bottom of the pond. I am so happy and I will finally be able to get it going in the right direction. Today was an amazing day to be outside and working on the yard. I accomplished so much today. Got the veggie garden ready to go for tomorrow, got all the weeds pulled, and I planted more flowers today. I now have zinnias and marigolds planted. This is the first time I have planted anything from seeds to grow, so I will see how this works out for me. I am so excited and nervous at the same time. Last year I bought all plants and just transplanted them. This year I am working with seeds to see how well I can grow them. Keep your fingers crossed for me!!!

Seeds Are Growing Fast

more veggie seeds ( photo / image / picture from daysmommy's Garden )

I got the greenhouse boxes down to water the veggie seeds and to my surprise they are already growing like crazy. I told my husband if the weather does not let us get the yard tilled we were going to have corn stalks growing up through our kitchen ceiling. LOL I am happy they are growing just wish they could be growing outside. I am so ready to have my own garden in my backyard.

This is where I want to till to put the garden. I started getting it ready by hand but that was hard on my back. I needed some of the grass to put down in some bare spots behind our shed. The landlord tore up the yard putting the shed in.

Seeds are started

Category: Veggie Garden | Posted: Tue May 11, 2010 2:46 am

We started our seeds in a greenhouse box. Since the ground is still too wet to get tilled up. But hopefully that will change soon. I will put pictures in my garden as soon as I a able to get hem taken. I have been busy with a sick son.

My rose bush in my front flower garden is getting ready to bloom. I can see the start of red peeking out of the buds. I can not wait to be able to see a bloomed red rose. I love roses.

Waiting to get it started

Category: Veggie Garden | Posted: Sat May 08, 2010 2:54 pm

Trying to get my veggie garden started but the weather is not working in my way. My neighbor and I are going to go into this together and have our very own veggie garden. We are going to start the seeds in a little green house box that she has. This way when he weather allows us to till the garden area up we will have plants starting. Hopefully the weather becomes nicer soon tired of the wind and thunderstorms all day. However, my flowers are loving the rain! but my veggie garden and my water garden pond are not like it so much. I still have work to do in both areas plus more flowers to plant as soon as the frost advisories stop showing up every other weekend.

Working on Rock area

Category: Water Garden Project | Posted: Wed May 05, 2010 5:02 pm

Today I am spending the time to pull all the weeds out from the rocks. It is taking a long time because there is a lot of weeds growig under the rocks. I will also be emptying the pond again and cleaning it out. Then I have to go find something to put in it to keep the bugs out and will not harm my plants I want to put in it. I also seen this solar light ta looks like a rock that I want to put on there with the other rocks. At first I wanted to put fish out there but I am afraid of all the cats that run around our community and they would also be in the sunlight. I do not know if the pond is deep enough for them to be able to stay out of the sun and cats. Still looking in to this.

Just getting started

another view of rock and pond ( photo / image / picture from daysmommy's Garden )

I am working on getting a water garden started. This is the way it lookes before I get it going. I need to get it cleaned out and ready to go. Hopefully it stops raining so I can get it emptied and then cleaned out. I really am not sure what to do with this because I have never done one before. I am excited although because I am actually allowed to do something to make my yard look nice. I will also have the oppurtunity to work out in my gardens to help take my mind off of school stress.
