I have the 56v for the Ego and got my replacements for $129 off Amazon.
The Greenworks rider takes 6 80v batteries and they are around $85. but it will run even off 2 or 4 batteries, just not for an hour and a half as it will with 6 batteries in it.

Back on topic, I've been mowing with the Greenworks rider. Right now I'm charging my batteries. I have a tray full of something, I have no idea what I had sown in that tray !! :smt044
I'll find out when and if they flower. I'm going to plant those out after I eat something.

Hubby's been doing some weeding, planted some potted hyacinths and trying to clear the brambles that have got behind the currant bushes.

I have reasons but I think it might be an idea to ask @Frank to take these posts on electric v petrol out of this thread and create a separate thread, it's an interesting topic :)

Made this barrow full of compost out of trees :)

It's a mixture of sieved composted wood chip and leafmold. Been filling these pots to plant out potatoes, parsnips & carrots.

No one around here will mow my place for only $50. I tried to let someone else mow once when we had a terrible heatwave. He charged $60, and did a terrible job. He didn't do any touch ups or trim work around the edges or under bushes, and it was very sloppy, and less than an hour of work. He had all kinds of brand new machinery and vehicle and trailer to haul it all. That was more than a day's wages for me. His excuse was that he 'had a sick kid.' I had expenses and health issues myself. When I mow my yard, with my rider ( I did not own a rider at the time this happened), it takes about 4 hours, plus several hours with the push to do rough places and trim work. If I do my whole yard with a push mower, it will take 2-3 days to mow it all. I never called him again.

I do my own work as much as I can.

I did not get anything but pet chores done today. A friend came by to check out the damages to my porch roof, and will come back Thursday to do a temporary patch for now. I have some old firewood he can have, and some trees he can cut down for firewood for himself. We talked a lot.

Nothing today, as it was golf then shopping. Fed the birds when I got home and checked on the wisteria. The blossom buds have burst out in the last week, so there will be the usual big displays.

    Took Snapdragon and Carnation cuttings.

Checked over the Glad corms ready to start planting out in 2 weekly intervals from May onwards.

Potted up new Strawberry plants ( runners from last year) into hanging baskets, decided to get rid of all the old plants this year.

Gradually moving the Lillies out from the greenhouse, found it a bit too difficult for me to do at the moment on my own and hubs has been tied up with other much need garden jobs. So the Lillies will have to wait a bit longer.:like:

Started removing an overgrown purple smoke tree (Cotinus). It grew too ungangly and takes more room than it deserves. Interesting, the interior wood is deep yellow!

Dug up a very old French rose - one of my favorites, but the location was not workable. The main root (or buried trunk) was about 4 inches diameter. Huge. It passed under a boulder, so I had to cut it with a big pruning saw. So I doubt it will survive. I planted it anyway, and watered it in thoroughly. I also have a one year old cutting from this bush. It will take a long time to reach any size, but at least it's a start.

A 13 year old daylily was in the path of the cement workers, and was thoroughly smashed underfoot. Not their fault, and I knew if I didn't dig it up that might happen. I just didn't have the opportunity at that moment. So today, I dug it up, split it into two smaller plants and one larger plant. Planted the large one in the big xeric border. So far, deer have not bothered daylilies there. Kind of a surprise. I potted up the two smaller divisions. I think they'll probably grow. Maybe no blooms this year.

I moved all of the container roses to some shelter, anticipating the forecast of hail.

It's a pity if this is totally gone Daniel. These are such beautiful trees. I have several of them here that form part of a mixed hedge. and due to bad health in the past few years I didn't manage to get the hedging done, and so they all became very overgrown. This year though, with some help from a friend with a chainsaw, I had them reduced to a much smaller size. Although they just look like stumps at the moment, they should make nice small specimens again in a year or two. The Cotinus tend to grow across the ground from the lowest branches, and will root wherever they touch down. If you check the area you may find one such layering and be able to grow a new tree from it (to keep pruned) maybe ?

Been tackling the new lawnmower, had the blade off it and sharpened it, cleaned it out and found it needs a new drive belt. Not sure how to fit one yet. But it cuts the grass, just a bit of an effort to push it around.

Here's some of the seedlings we've got on the go at the moment :)
