Used as butterfly host as well as a delicious bulb used in salad dishes. The bulb has a sweet crunch used in place of celery for a different twist to salads and meat (turkey) dressings.

I just adore the smell and taste. Nothing like a fresh, washed bulb to chew on. It's sweet and slightly licorice/aniseed flavour is moreish and addictive.

Mine in Zone 8a has made it through two winters just fine, even with snow and ice last year. Swallowtail Butterflies love it.
