This plant is no longer classified in the genus Coleus, being moved into Solenostemon, but is still commonly known as Coleus. It's a native of tropical Africa and Asia and grows well in shaded spots outdoors in the warmer regions of Australia.
This is a perennial plant in the tropics and will bloom all year round. Known for its’ colourful and striking foliage, the flowers are rather insignificant, yet quite pretty.
The colour of the leaves is enhanced when grown in shade. They do prefer part to full shade in the tropics, but will take a little direct morning or late afternoon sun when well established. |
