Cayuga Morning (1356) wrote the following about Persicaria virginiana 'Painter's Palette' on Jun 29 2017
I agreed with Kay, above. This plant is grown for its foliage, which is very interesting. Mine has green leaves with maroon and white zigzags through them. The maroon goes well with other maroon-leafed plants such as ligularia or heuchera. I suppose the white could be echoed by a white hosta or the white of a astilbe flower.
I am told it can be aggressive if grown in more sun. I grow it in shade and it is very well-behaved. It only gets to be 8-12" in height in my garden. |
