Dooley, you said you put them up and use them again for a few years. Here in East Texas, it is so humid, that by the time I put them out the first of fall and take them down after T'giving, they have mold all over them! Yuk... so for the price, they go in the trash :-|

    I never had scarecrows.

They look oh so cool. (I wish I had at least one even if it just to keep the birds away from the dog's food. ;) )
I never really had the need to have scarecrows, but my ambition is oneday to start producing my own fresh produce. I suppose then I will definetely need them.
However, that not in the near future.

Your scarecrows are great, however they won't fool too many crows, I don't think . Crows are one of the smarter birds, did you know why you don't see many crows hit by cars? I'll tell you, they post a lookout in a tree, and whenever a car approaches, the lookout calls out ca(r)w ca(r)w ca(r)w. Since the crows are so smart, we have our scarecrows inside, to scare away evil Halloween spirits.

I've decided to get a few more this year and spray them with Scotchgard and see if that will help. If they still mildew, they will just have to be put out again next year with 'black measles' :!:
