Precisely why it is important to look over your homes to see if all possible entry points are sealed up.

An update on this, I sealed the hole the little rascal had chewed in the top of the wellhouse wall and baited a live-trap. And three days later, he was chittering at me from the trees outside the wellhouse! I think the little stinker discovered how to get inside through the space where the well-intake lines come up. But at least I know he can get out again, and haven't seen any evidence of gnawing. Think I'll rebait the live-trap with some hazelnuts off a friends tree, perhaps that will be more enticing than corn...

Bread will work fine. Just keep the trap up off the ground. They are much more cautious on the ground than up higher. Get the larger live trap also, coon size, they don't like those confined small live traps.

Yup, the trap is fairly large, bought originally to catch a skunk. And it's up on a high shelf by the former hole. Didn't know about the bread, tho, thanks for the tip!

If there are any gaps around the intake you can stuff them with steel wool. Rodents dont like to chew through that.

Didn't know that one, thanks Wrennie!
The native squirrels are trying so hard to make a comeback, I feel like a true grinch chasing this one out into the frost. But my forge is close by, and I'm hoping it will move over there!
