today was the cooking apple butter day. I cooked all the pulp from cider and ended up with 65 pints of apple butter. I didn't have to cook the applesauce down to get nice thick apple butter. Next year this may or may not work. The apple this year were fairly juicy. we had enough rain this year to make the apples grow very well. I hope you had a good day with your gardening stuff too. night.

Carolyn, you make me tired just reading about your day. But, I sure wish I lived closer to you. I'd be there a lot.

Dooley, You would be more than welcome. I don't feel like I get enough done each day, but at the end of each day I am tired.. there is just so much to get done. We picked 1/2 bu of greenbeans last night and I need to do the other 3 rows today and then I think it will be the last of them for me. I hope I can sell them all tomorrow. I need to go get labels for my applebutter today....Pick. polish and pack apples, pick tomatoes, beets, swiss chard, carrots, squash, lettuce and whatever else I can glean for tomorrows market and then I think the garden will be done for the year. I will start cleaning up.

It is officially over for the season now. The last farmers market is tomorrow and we have just a few things to pick in the morning, but today we picked a bushel of green beans, the last of the jonathan apples, some jonagolds, peppers, tomatoes summer squash and a few other things and it isn't even dark yet, almost though. I think the garden is as exhausted as we are. Soon the clean up begins.

I thought I wrote here last night but maybe not. We've been having thunderstorms here since about 3 pm. Then, they stopped so we went into town to the Chinese buffet to supper. It was just raining. Now, I think I'm hearing some thunder again so I guess I won't stay on here much longer. No outside work today. I sewed some and cleaned some. Always something to do. Yesterday, I didn't do anything but read my book. I think I have all my library books finished.
Have a good night everyone and pleasant dreams.

It was cloudy all day. No sun and no rain. Worked outside pulling the big weeds and tall grass. Yard is looking much better. Horses are getting fat. I still have the triangle flower/vegetable bed to weed and the hoeing to do but all in good time. My knees can't take working out everyday like that so it gets done in spurts. The rain we had on Saturday makes the stuff easier to pull out. We will get some weed eater line when we next go shopping. We tried to buy some here in town but it's fall we aren't supposed to buy weed eater line until spring. I wonder if anyone told the grass and weeds to stop growing because it's winter. When its wet and it's 80 degrees they are going to grow no matter what season of the year it is when it happens.
You all have a good night and pleasant dreams.

Today was a rather lazy day...can you believe that? I didn't do a thing out in the garden other than to get an order together for a customer and most of it I did yesterday so all I did today was pick the hot peppers. I am making bean soup in the canner for winter though. I ran caity to the eye doctor and did a few other piddly things, but not much.

It was another gray day here but it's supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow. So far, no rain though. We went to the Writer's Meeting tonight but not many people showed up. It didn't last as long as usual. Didn't work outside today as we have a long day ahead of tomorrow. Routine truck service and then shopping. I hope I remember to take the shopping list. Maybe I should go put it in my purse tonight.
You all have a good night and pleasant dreams.

Things are really winding down. Am getting a pretty good collection of cardboard going. Just need time to plan what I will be covering up and turning into veggie beds. Got my narrsisus bulbs that need to be planted. Too much work work and not enough time left for play work.

This morning started out...feeding chickens. then on to setting up the stand and picking beans, again. Pretty soon though, they will be over.
Then since the weather was pretty gloomy I decided to go to Lehman's to get the pressure canner parts I needed to make my canners work. One needed a new stem for the weight (replacement of a very old mechanism to a modern one) and three of them needed new gaskets. there went $50.00. I stopped at a thrift store there in "town" if you can call Kidron a town and found a new roaster insert for an 18qt roaster for $4.50...wahoo, what a deal! I was needing a new one of those as my roaster was working fine, but the liner was flaking off the "porcelain" or whatever that material is (from the continued heat, I think, as I am making applesauce). I came home and picked 1/2 bu of tomatoes to make veg. juice and canned 17 qts. of juice this afternoon. I think I am done for the day. Night.

The day started early. Truck had an appointment for 8 am for routine service to keep our warranty up to date. Then, bank and post office. We decided to do our shopping in Bryan today. It's about 50 miles south west of us. It drizzled all day. I had the wipers on low/intermittent most of the day. No real accumulation, just damp and cold. dr wasn't cold, just me, myself and I.
Did some shopping, had lunch at Fish Daddy's Grill House. Great place for lunch. It was crowded as usual. You should see those servers and busboys and receptionists move. If the move that fast all day they must go home and collapse.
We finally got every thing and got home and put it away and then went and had a hamburger for supper. Now, back home and things cleaned up for breakfast. At least we can see the table.
Hope tomorrow is a bit slower and not as damp and cool as it was today.

Have a good night and pleasant dreams.

We stopped at Home Depot today when we went to Huntsville and they had cool weather plants on sale. We bought some hanging baskets of vinca and some viola and snapdragons. It says they will survive frosts. The hanging baskets can go into the shed if it's going to be too cold at night. I planted the viola, purple and yellow ones, in Chance's flower bed. She will like them.
The snapdragons went into the flower bed by the back deck. Oh, I want to go see if that moon vine flower bloomed yet. It looked like it might. I have a few on the camera to post and I will see if I can get some of Chance's flower bed in the morning. Then, I can post them tomorrow. It was a busy day but it's winding down now.
Have a good night everyone and pleasant dreams.

Only thing I did in the garden today was I moved my houseplants inside. All but one, the Corn Plant and only because its so darn heavy. I may borrow my bf's furniture movers tomorrow and try to move it that way.
Heading off to Georgia tomorrow night! Going to be there for the weekend for a wedding.
Hope the bf gets home soon, I need a neck massage! haha ;)

I didn't do any gardening today unless you count walking around and checking what I planted yesterday and taking some pictures of them. I forgot to upload them today so I guess you will have to wait until tomorrow to see them. I'm yawning already tonight so can't see straight enough to do it tonight. I sewed aprons today. Three of them. I think I'd better be going to bed before I am still sitting here in this computer chair come morning.
