Did nothing in the garden today, except move the Corn Plant inside. I wound up doing it myself because the bf was afraid there were spiders on it...he hates spiders lol

Leaving for Georgia in T minus 3 hours! :D
Im trying to keep myself awake. Mainly because I can sleep while the bf drives and because if I sleep now, I wont want to get up.

I walked around and took some pictures today. Maybe I can get them posted later or tomorrow. I did upload them to my garden earlier. This morning I dug out all the plastic flower pots and carried them to the back garden. Tonight I covered all the herbs and tomatoes because it is supposed to get colder tonight. It was 46 degrees this morning and only got up to 63 today. I definitely think fall has arrived and it is working quickly toward winter. I didn't even get my fall garden planted yet. The cold and damp affect my arthritis so it's hard to get moving in the mornings now. Tomorrow is supposed to be nicer. Sunny and 70's it said so maybe I can get something done tomorrow. I made soup for supper. Soup is nice on cold days.
You all have a good evening now.
    Pleasant dreams and stay warm.

Fed the chickens really really late. I gathered up 20 or so of them, as I didn't count, I am not sure, and gave them to the Amish family that took the last ones. They have ceased laying eggs and I can't afford to feed them if they aren't laying an egg.... and I caught two of them eating an egg in the nesting box so those two went, too. Then I came home and took Maya to the dog park to play for about 40 min. came home and made dinner. Now my day is done. night.

I did cleaning again today. Yesterday, I cleaned all the shelves with material, refolded and stacked neatly. Will they stay that way? For a few days, maybe! It's starting to thunder out there. It was cloudy and tried to rain a couple of times but didn't manage it. Not so cold tonight though.
You all have a good night and pleasant dreams.

Hostas are dying back. Some of the trees about town are spectacular. The drive home is at its peak. I have a lovely commute.

I did sewing today trying to finish up a few projects for the weekend. I took the hummingbird feeders down and cleaned them. They are not going back up. It's too cold for them now though in Arizona I had them all year around and they used to chitter at me when they were frozen and I'd have to thaw them out. They had nests in the trees next door to us. Maybe that was a winter place for them.
Need to go check the thermometer and see if I need to cover anything tonight.

Have a good evening everyone and pleasant dreams tonight.

Did some sewing today. dr came and told me my plants were looking a little sagging. I went and looked and he was right. I've gotten lax about watering. First because of the heat and drought during the summer when everything died anyway and then, because of all the rain we had in the latter part of September and in October. So, now I have got to start checking more often so the poor plants don't die of neglect.
We took two large size bags of dog food to the local shelter today. It's small and working on a non existent budget through the police station dog warden. They found two tubs of puppies abandoned in a park this week. They were in poor shape and had to have vet care. We have been donating food every few weeks but decided this time to give them some puppy chow. The paper said they had a total of 18 puppies and no adult dogs at the shelter.

You all have a good night and pleasant dreams.

I have to go to bed earlier tonight so I can be up by 6 am. We have to be at the medical center by 8 am. Lab work, contrast for ct scan, mammogram, ct scan, bone scan, lunch and home. Hopefully we will be home by two or two-thirty.
No breakfast either. Fasting for lab work and ct contrast drink.
Didn't do much outside. I did take some pictures of our first winter rose. I didn't upload them yet though. Maybe tomorrow. We've been having some nice sunny days. Hope they continue through Saturday.

You all have pleasant dreams now.

    Good night all!

This week has been pretty much a non gardening week. WET and COLD. YUCK! but today I did find 3/4 bu of grapes in the arbor, picked up a bu of drop apples and there is another bu there to pick up, so I will make more cider. Picked a few tomatoes in the greenhouse and picked up all the bad tomatoes off the ground in the last greenhouse. Fruit flys abound out there. maybe they are the swd fly. no idea without a microscope, but they probably are. I hope they can't winter over.
Now my day is about done, night.

No outside today. Was at the Medical Center from 8 am until after 3 Pm. Got home about 4:40. But, they are all done now for another year. The technician said they looked good. I don't think they are supposed to tell you but when I asked he gave me two thumbs up and said everything looked good. I told him that I thought they would be okay because I would feel it if they weren't going to be and he said that was true.
Going to the barbecue cook off tomorrow. Another early day. Good place to sell aprons and shopping bags.
Pleasant dreams and a good night to everyone!

Wow, I lost this thread... and couldn't find it....I had to search and search.
Well anyway, I have been busy, but dealing with a cold.YUCK! so each night I am weary or the children are using the computer and I go to bed. This week I FINALLY got my honey supers off the hives, I don't think I have ever pulled them this late in the year! Last night we went and purchased a new extractor... My dear husband search online and found a real bargain within driving distance and we went to Cleveland last night and picked it up. It holds 9 med frames and is a radial extactor (which means I don't have to turn the frames around and extract each side. Just keep cranking and cranking and eventually it all gets extracted) Today we extracted honey. I ended up with four 5 gallon buckets of honey.

One other day I got all the tomatoes and peppers pulled and tossed into a compost pile in the back 40. next up is the high tunnel and then off to the greenhouse. Clean, clean, clean.

One day I canned another 14 quarts of bean soup. And I pulled the patch of beets and canned 18 pints of beets. I went to bed at 8:00 that night.

Busy week. I am glad tomorrow is my day off.

Have a good day off, Carolyn! It will be our day off, too. I've been busy doing sewing all week. Last weekend was busy and a woman wanted four aprons and was coming this weekend at the mini-market to pick them up. She never showed. But we had a good day in the sunshine anyway. It was a little cool though. I covered my tomatoes tonight because it's supposed to get down to 40 degrees. It usually gets a little cooler than in town. I hope I covered them good enough. I never got them dug up and put into pots so I guess it'll be a nightly chore to cover them. I hope I don't forget to uncover them. I brought in a couple of frost tender plants, too.
I traded an apron for a Singer sewing machine today. It works, too. I will take it to the sewing store down in College Station and have it cleaned and checked out and maybe see if they have an instruction book. I used to have one like it a few years ago. I didn't really need a sewing machine but the man really wanted an apron. His wife is an invalid and he has to do the cooking now and keeps getting his clothes dirty. I do things like that for people. I would have given him the apron if he hadn't ask if I would trade one for the sewing machine.
Turn back the clocks tonight. I can use that extra hour of sleep.

It was cold this morning. Only 32 degrees and frost on everything. I'm glad I cover things last night. They looked good this morning when I uncovered them when the sun came out from behind the clouds.
It didn't get very warm today even though it was sunny. It was a bit windy. Must have been a north wind blowing down on us.
I covered the plants again tonight. Just because I was cold I thought they might be, too. The temp is not supposed to be below fifty according to weather.com but it was already 50 when I looked out earlier.
I went and got out the comforter for my bed. I don't like to be cold when I'm sleeping or even when I'm awake.
You all have a good night and pleasant dreams.

Had to go get grain this morning...went down by 2.oo a bag since the last time I got it..YAY!!! st it's peak I think it was 14.00 a bag. I about choked paying for it.

Got the garlic in the ground finally. I hope this is a better spot than last season or we don't get the torrential downpours like this year, where it was running across the yard. Still need to get the rest of the honey filtered and apples ...one more batch of cider to press, I think.

Moved the grand kids' sand/dirt box so now I have a bigger area to drive to my back yard and garden area. Just happened to luck out when I saw a gentleman across the way using a bob cat with a bucket. Yahoo! I asked how much he'd charge me to drive over and scoop a few loads of the dirt into the box. What a guy! There are some nice people left in this ol world but as we get older and pass away, the next generation will be in trouble. Oh hum, sigh. Just making plans for next years yard and garden now. :D
